Designed to enhance the surrounding streetscape, the building features a striking façade that combines clean rendered elevations with bold accents of colour and timber-effect cladding. SBS Cladding supplied [Hardie® VL Plank](https://www.jameshardie.eu/gb-en/products/hardie-vl-plank) in Cedar and Chestnut Brown together with [Hardie® Panel](https://www.sbscladding.com/fibre-cement-cladding/hardie-panel) in Arctic White for the project, working alongside main contractor [Equans](https://www.equans.co.uk/) and specialist installer [Russell Roofing](https://russellroofing.co.uk/). The carefully selected fibre cement systems provide a durable, low-maintenance façade that delivers lasting performance alongside an attractive architectural finish. **Concept to Completion** Occupying a prominent corner position, Lloyds Row called for façade materials that would withstand the demands of a busy city environment while helping to define the building's architectural character. Hardie® Panel in Arctic White forms the primary façade, creating crisp elevations that maximise natural light and provide a clean backdrop for the building's colourful design features. The smooth fibre cement panels contribute to a refined appearance while offering exceptional durability and weather resistance. ![CD8 1526 HR 1](/uploads/generic/images/_1076x9999_fit_center-center_none/CD8_1526_HR-1.jpg) Hardie® VL Plank in Cedar and Chestnut Brown was specified to highlight balcony projections and architectural details throughout the development. The realistic timber-effect finish introduces warmth and texture, creating contrast against the lighter rendered elevations without the maintenance associated with natural wood. Manufactured from high-performance fibre cement, both products are resistant to rot, moisture, pests and the effects of harsh weather, making them an ideal choice for residential developments where longevity and low lifecycle costs are key considerations. The combination of large-format panels and timber-effect planks creates depth, variation and visual interest across the façade, allowing individual building elements to be clearly defined while maintaining a cohesive overall design. Alongside their aesthetic qualities, the products also offer an A2-s1, d0 reaction to fire classification, providing confidence that the façade meets the demanding performance standards expected of modern residential construction. The completed development is a distinctive addition to the Clerkenwell skyline, demonstrating how complementary fibre cement cladding systems can be combined to create an attractive, durable façade that will continue to perform for many years.
