Immanuel College Post-16
Overview
The Post-16 Building at Immanuel College is a brand-new sixth form centre designed to offer modern and high-quality education facilities to students in Bradford. Funded through a £4 million government investment, this impressive extension will increase the college’s sixth form capacity by 50%, accommodating up to 330 students. Property consultants Eddisons supported the project from concept to completion, securing funding and overseeing the building’s design and delivery.
SBS Cladding supplied 380m² of Hardie® Panel fibre cement cladding to the development in a metallic copper finish. The project was managed by Bermar Building, with installation carried out by Cladproof Roofing and Cladding. The result is a contemporary facade that gives the building a distinctive and welcoming finish.
Concept to completion
Sustainability was a key consideration throughout the building’s design. It was therefore essential that the facade materials provided both environmental benefits and a long service life. Hardie® Panel cladding was identified as an ideal solution, offering an attractive finish whilst meeting the performance criteria set out by the design team.
With its A2 fire rating and BBA certification, Hardie® Panel was particularly well-suited for an educational environment. In addition to its compliance credentials, the product offers long-term durability, low maintenance requirements, and low CO₂ emissions. To achieve the desired aesthetic, the panels were specified in a metallic copper finish, creating a striking contrast against the vertical timber cladding used on the first-floor elevation. Together, the facade materials give the building a warm and welcoming finish, providing a beautiful contrast to the masonry used on the adjacent building, and the green spaces surrounding the area.
Completed in summer 2025, the project has delivered a modern, high-specification facility featuring six new classrooms, a common room, study area, dining space, and kitchen, creating a functional and inspiring learning environment for students and staff alike.
