Caro Point and Moore House, Grosvenor Waterside
Overview
Caro Point and Moore House at Grosvenor Waterside are two residential buildings which have recently undergone a reclad to replace the previous combustible cladding. When the apartment blocks were built in 2008, a non-fire-retardant cladding material was installed. Following changes to the Building Regulation, the material no longer met the updated standards that were due to take effect in December 2022. To make the buildings compliant, work began to replace the cladding with a new A1 fire rated cladding before the new regulations came into place.
Vitradual A1 fire rated (to BS EN 13501-1) panels were selected by DMWR Architects in colours that provided a close visual match to the previous cladding. SBS Cladding supplied the panels in four colours to the project: Garnet Red, Amber, Aluminium Grey and Urban Grey, along with colour matched rivets. Once on-site, the panels were installed by Fleetwood Architectural Aluminium.

Concept to completion
Colour matching the original facades was a key element of the recladding project, requiring the architects to select a material that could replicate the four original colours, alongside the size of the panels. Vitradual metal cladding was able to provide this, alongside other key benefits, including an A1 fire rating, BBA certification (20/5824) and CWCT testing.
Both the removal of the previous cladding and installation of the Vitradual were carried out whilst the buildings were fully occupied by residents, meaning careful planning and management of the works was extremely important to minimise disruption. The easy and fast installation of Vitradual contributed towards the minimisation of disruption on this project.
Now complete, the result is a safe and compliant, which retains the visual impact of the previous building envelope. To find out more about Vitradual metal cladding, click here.
