SBS Cladding worked with sub-contractors [Stoneguard](https://www.stoneguard.co.uk/index.html) to supply[ Rockpanel mineral fibre cladding](https://www.sbscladding.com/mineral-fibre-cladding/rockpanel) in three shades of grey. This created a distinctive contrast with the site’s red brickwork, giving a crisp and contemporary finish. The project was designed by [BRP Architects](https://www.brp-architects.com/) and managed by[ Ashe Group](https://www.ashegroup.co.uk/). **Concept to completion** The local Beaconsfield architecture is mainly characterised by red brickwork, with Georgian, Victorian and Tudor-style buildings common throughout the area. These traditional styles are interspersed with modern developments featuring contemporary materials such as grey and buff brickwork and grey cladding. After careful consideration of the surrounding architecture, Rockpanel cladding was selected for use on large parts of the building’s facade, installed vertically in three shades of grey to create a contrast with the red brickwork, grey render and aged copper-effect cladding used on other sections of the envelope. From the outset, sustainable design was at the forefront of the architect’s minds, with products carefully selected to support the achievement of a BREEAM rating. Rockpanel mineral fibre cladding contributed to this goal thanks to its sustainability credentials, as the product is manufactured from basalt, a renewable raw material which has contributed towards the product holding an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The product’s natural build up from a stone material also means that it has a low calorific value, resulting in an A2 fire rating to BS EN 13501-01. These attributes made Rockpanel an ideal choice for the Beaconsfield Medical Centre project. Completed in 2022, this development now offers 30 consultation rooms and a pharmacy for local residents. With both GP practices retaining their own identity under one roof, the centre provides care to 20,000 patients from the area and caters for the town’s forecasted growth due to increasing numbers of new housing developments.
